Hello, I’m Maryanne.
I write interactive adventure books for the young and the young at heart. They share experiences and life lessons that entertain and inspire, with a feel good ending, that leaves you wanting to read more.
Insight:
Each chapter concludes with a “Word Search” to help readers recall what they've read within the chapter. You will also find a section called “Points to Ponder,” offering a wonderful conversation starter about feelings. And a “Find and Define” section can be found at the back of the book providing definitions for the underlined words throughout the story. The many descriptive words and black and white pictures are designed to give each reader their own unique experience depending on their stage in development.
Back story:
I was inspired to write and become an author because of my four amazing children. Their early years were rewarding yet challenging, with a whole lot of love along the way. Hungry James and Pops Too! is the first in a series of young readers interactive adventure books. James's experiences will leave you smiling, chuckling, and entertained as you read how he encounters life lessons and enduring friendships. Each book brings in another one of my children, adding their attributes and qualities, with even more twists, turns and whimsical humor to James's adventures.
In the making:
Three generations of women contributed to Hungry James and Pops Too! I am the author, my oldest daughter, Tiffany Qualizza of Tiffany Qualizza Photography, provided the photographs, and her ten-year-old daughter, Ava, helped to create the illustrations. Together, we have made loving memories to last a lifetime.
Introduction
First book in the series
The characters in this book will take you through the adventures and a journey into a day in the life of James. His mishaps, misfortunes, and misunderstandings lead him to find a “guiding light” to life lessons and enduring friendships.
My Goal
My goal for this story is to bring about the heartfelt memories you have had with the kiddos in your life. As you read, I hope it makes you smile, chuckle, and maybe shake your head, thinking; we made it through another day “in one piece” together.
Introduction
Second book in the series
A new character, Tiffany, is pulled into the adventure. Her perspective nature, independence, and intelligence bring a new perspective to James’s twists and turns, leading him to consider that there are two sides to every coin”.
My Goal
My goal for this story is to widen the scope of perception through the lens of simplicity and spark the many, sometimes extraordinary, memories of yesteryear. Take the a moment to remember and give forward. So different. So similar. So much to share.
Playful . . .
Hungry James and Pops Too!
A whimsical, creative, fun, interactive experience.

2. See: The pictures are drawn in black and white to enable the reader to see the story in their own way.
3. Hear: The descriptive words give each reader a personal experience using their imagination and station in development.
4. Taste and smell: Become part of the journey by having the same snack as James.
5. Writing and recall: Do the “Word Search” at the end of each chapter with words to recap what was read.
